Bringing Welcome Family To The UK
Welcome Family is slightly different to the Designers and Brands that I normally work with but seeing that it’s a small yet also a very dynamic company that’s looking to expand into the UK, it ticks all of the creativity and business boxes for Trendline Europe and myself.
Welcome Family is a small company in terms of the number of people in the office, 5 but it’s large and growing fast in terms of business and its range. Fred Martz set Welcome Family up in 2010 in the South of France with the aim of being « the one-stop shop for places serving kids » and now it’s supplying the likes of restaurants, hotels and campsites across France with its own designed activity kits and placemats for kids, along with their colouring pencils, through to toddler high chairs and their own Branded booster seats.
One of Fred Martz’s other companies, Marketing Creation, designed the « Happy » chair for McDonalds, the high chair which is rolling out across all McDonalds worldwide right now. So as you can see, it’s all about that French Lifestyle of having all of the family and friends united around the dining table, no matter what age or size that is the core to the businesses and of very much interest for the UK market.
I worked closely with the Welcome Family team, analysing the UK market and the demand for such a product range and service as Welcome Family, analysing the potential competitors, their pricing structures and also looking at distribution and warehousing as well as the costs involved.
Further to my Strengths and Weakness, Opportunities and Threats analysis I created the new dedicated UK e-commerce Welcome Family website and blog. What is more we decided to launch Welcome Family officially at the UK’s largest restaurant and hotel trade show, Hotelympia at London’s Excel. With over 1000 exhibitors and 26,000 attendees in the hospitality and catering industry this was a great show for Welcome Family, plus, it was the only business there that was dedicated to kids being served in restaurants. Parfait!
